Pumpkins, Piggies and Pinecones

I guess when I said in the last post , that it was All the Fall I was doing,  I fibbed..  It wasnt intentional , truly it wasnt...
Ya see, today is the yearly  Barbeque Festival in Lexington NC , so for months, there have been piggies of every size shape and color everywhere I shop..

While choosing my new living room sofa :: which I will be showing as soon as my pillows are made, I spied a Mama Pig and her lil piglet and just had to have the set..
The next day I was out getting the yard ready for the colder months ahead and picked up some pinecones..

All over blogland folks have been making sweater pumpkins.. well, I had a huge sweater that got its fringe all tangled when washed,  stuffing,  embroidery thread and twine..  I took having all those elements on hand as a sign that I should make use of the now , unwearable sweater and so I did..  In order for mine to be just a little different and more ME I added bows...       Around here if ya stand still too long, I will spray paint you or put a bow on ya  , sometimes Both.  giggle

Thats how this vignette came together-- Pumkpins,, Piggies, Pinecones AND a Prayer Plant.  May as well put all my P's together..  I love how they look and I hope you will too..

I want to Thank all those who have made these sweater style pumpkins and for all the amazing tutorials I found online..  Without your experience and expertise I wouldnt have know where to begin and end.. so Many Thanks to all you generous folks.... I hope I " did ya proud " as we say in the south..

All the Fall I'm Doing

I'm not sure why I cant get into the HUGE Fall, multiple displays this year.  Maybe its because I've been looking at them since the end of July~!  Here in blogland-all over the store- magazines-Everywhere..
No offence meant by that statement, just the Facts Mam' , just the Facts..lol

I'll leave this display out a couple of weeks and then put it and all the rest of the fall decor containers away.
The weather here in NC is wonderful..  Cool mornings and pleasant temps by evening..  Leaves are starting to fall and I notice the grass isnt growing very fast, even though we've had lots and lots of rain.

and now- onnnnnnnnnnn with the show:)

I always like to see what things look like if life was done in black and white:)

The lantern you see in the photo was all Black but then I saw the white with black tops somewhere and just Had to make mine look as close to those as possible.      Black they were 16.00 each-- the white with black top lanterns I saw were half the size and 68.00 each  YIKES.. So for about 80 cents worth of valspar spray paint I got what I wanted and I am tickled with them.. oh yea- I did  2  but just one showing in this scape.
and a Fall Tag for anyone who'd like to use it..
As always ,  thanks for visiting me.  I do love having Ya'll here and enjoy reading your comments.

Party at Pams.. Treasure Hunt Thursday

Have a wonderful wednesday and Come back to see me, Ya hear:)

Mummy Cupcake Too Cute

Better Homes and Gardens never fails to come up with the best stuff...   I watch for their emails cause I know I'll find something great..

as I read the ingredients it tickled me that even kids could do this and how proud they would be of their creations..
I'll definately be sending a link to this post to my neighbor.  Her grandgirls will be here oct. 27 and 28 so it would be the perfect project for them..   They are 8 and 12 and with a little help from their Nana, well suffice it to say I'll be expecting a knock on my door to find them with Mummies in hand ,,  hehehehe.
here's how to make them..  see   Easy Peasy:)

enjoy~! and thanks for visiting me.

Entryway DONE for Now

I have to admit when I first thought about changing my ENTIRE living room, I was pretty sure it was going to be EASY..    WRONG AGAIN

First I had to get rid of what was in there.. if you go    HERE to see the cleaning out
you'll see all the things I gave away to the Womens Shelter of Greensboro..   Thats a whole other story I will share with you later. Suffice it to say, that experience has led me into Great Experiences and I am grateful to have been taken on this journey.

You saw the photos in the link above , what was left in the room.. Not much lol  and what there was had to be completely redone to suit my new Lighter Brighter living space.

I originally ordered 3 new sofa's   2 for the family room and 1 for the living room..  they were CRAP and I sent them back on the delivery truck they arrived on..
So the search for sofa's was on..   Artwork, accessories, revamping of the few pieces left..

Let me tell ya, this turned into a Major Overhall..
In order to show you the entry way, you'll get sneak peeks of the other areas and as I complete each one I'll post it.
Did I mention, Entry walls are wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy harder than they looked like they'd be to do??
I had a gazillion samples..   I had great tutorials on how to lay out things on the floor to see how it would look in advance..     Yet, when the moment arrived- they didnt help me much...
End result was it looked like someone walked in and shot at that wall with a Scatter Gun-- seriously it did.

I'm not saying it'll stay like this very long but so many of you have been kind enough to stick with me on this particular decor journey and I didnt want ya'll tothink I hadnt accomplished anything.

   I have folks to thank...
Karen at The Graphics Fairy   for so much of the art I printed out and put in my frames.
and
Marla at Always Nesting for privately looking at each and every stage and change on this wall and helping me in every way she could with advice and suggestions and a shoulder to lean on when frustration just about took me over..
Thank You Ladies..  You are appreciated.

Now I'll hush and show you what I came up with..  Then a few of the Epic Fails~!  I dont want ya'll to miss out on those hehehehehe..    On my sidebar it says I'll show ya the Good, the Bad, the Ugly and the Lovely ==so thats what I'm gonna do.
is it Perfect- NO..  am I content with it for now- YES:)
now for some of the Floperooos it took to get me to the pic above.
too plain -- tablet too dark-- lamp all wrong.. I tried doing the ice cube trick to lift the carpet indentions but as yet that hasnt worked..  maybe a rug would be best..  what do ya'll think?
from Bad to Worse..   remember I was trying to Lighten things up?so why why did I put black storage ottomans under the table..wrong accessories hanging on the wall.  who the heck thought that brown hat would work ...  oui vey
great ginger jar lamp but not in this space..
so now, lets try less art and a different table lamp and acessories..
no no your eyes decieve you- that table isnt as SMALL and OUT OF PLACE as it look- right?
oui   again..
oh yea and in many of the test photos you may notice there was no art , except for the store advertisement.
I was gonna pass off that one pretty skinny gal as Me but noooooooo I cant lie to ya'll like that:)

I was thrilled once I moved the mirror over here cause then I could see the whole room from different angles..
Like I said earlier, I 'll post living room pics as each section is completed so these are the sneak peeks.
Ottomans arent covered ,, pillows arent made,, coffee table isnt decorated- nor is the mantle completed and the sofa table still needs Stuff..
oh well as Scarlett O'Hara said  Tommorrow is Another Day..

allllllllllrighty.   that's it for now..   I hope you like it and that you'll keep coming back for the rest of this Saga.

I appreciate your visiting me.. It just would'nt be the same without ya.

Life is Like a Cup of Coffee

Happy Monday Folks..

Life is busy around here but I wanted to pop in and share something I got in an email from my bestest friend.. She always sends me the greatest emails..
Its quickly becoming Fall here in NC and that means the yard has to be prepped for winter.
All the hoses need to be taken up and stored ,  the furniture cleaned and put away for next spring.
So much to do and so little time.   Our grass is still green and growing , so the mowing continues.
****************************

I wish I could make coffee look this pretty but if I did ,I would'nt want to drink it .. giggle
Can you smell the pumpkin spice coming off this photo-I can.. Yum.

Life Is Like a Cup of Coffee
A group of alumni, highly established in their careers, got together to visit their old university professor. Conversation soon turned into complaints about stress in work and life.
Offering his guests coffee, the professor went to the kitchen and returned with a large pot of coffee and an assortment of cups – porcelain, plastic, glass, crystal, some plain looking, some expensive, some exquisite – telling them to help themselves to the coffee.
When all the students had a cup of coffee in hand, the professor said: “If you noticed, all the nice looking expensive cups have been taken up, leaving behind the plain and cheap ones. While it is normal for you to want only the best for yourselves, that is the source of your problems and stress.
Be assured that the cup itself adds no quality to the coffee. In most cases it is just more expensive and in some cases even hides what we drink. What all of you really wanted was coffee, not the cup, but you consciously went for the best cups… And then you began eyeing each other’s cups.
Now consider this: Life is the coffee; the jobs, money and position in society are the cups. They are just tools to hold and contain Life, and the type of cup we have does not define, nor change the quality of life we live.
Sometimes, by concentrating only on the cup, we fail to enjoy the coffee. Savor the coffee, not the cups! The happiest people don’t have the best of everything. They just make the best of everything. Live simply. Love generously. Care deeply. Speak kindly.
