Party Announcement & Landscaping samples:)

Debra over at Common Ground blog~ Party Details HERE~   is going to be starting a new design challenge party.. I sure know what I need help with-- my new Landscape..

I pulled out 14 year old shrubs that were overgrown and so out of shape even a professional trimmer after 3 tries couldnt get them back to looking nice...  I also had to have 3 trees removed. One was dead ,one had lost a major limb from lightning and the 3rd just had a horrible shape and did'nt look too healthy.

Right now my entire front yard is blank, except for a few tiny plants at the porch, so this is a great time to put together a design for it and start new..

Here are a few samples I found on the BHG site  .. I'm saving others too and looking forward to getting ideas an suggestions for ya'll when Debra gets her party up and running..

I'd love to have something like this to the right of the driveway..
This would be great on the far right side of the yard starting at the edge of the house..
This mailbox decor makes my heart go pitter patter:)

Now if I can add lots of ideas from ya'll it will help me so much...
I hope to see ya at the Party over at Common Ground.. here that's link again and its on my sidebar too..

Blue Friday~ For our Troops

Hi Folks..

This was posted on a forum I am a member of and I wanted to share it with ya'll..
It sure seems like such an easy thing to do to honor those who do so much for us..
thanks for reading..

Blue Fridays.
Very soon, you will see a great many people wearing blue every Friday. The reason? Americans who support our troops used to be called the 'silent majority' We are no longer silent, and are voicing our love for God, country and home in record breaking numbers We are not organized, boisterous or overbearing.

Many Americans, like you, me and all our friends, simply want to recognize that the vast majority of    America supports our troops. Our idea of showing solidarity and support for our troops with dignity and respect starts this Friday -- and continues each and every Friday until the troops all come home, sending a deafening message that every  red-blooded American who supports our men and women afar, will wear something blue. By word of mouth, press, TV -- let's make the    United States on every Friday a sea of blue much like a homecoming football game in the bleachers. If every one of us who loves this country will share this with acquaintances, coworkers, friends, and family, it will not be long before the    USA is covered in BLUE and it will let our troops know the once 'silent' majority is on their side more than ever, certainly more than the media lets on. The first thing a soldier says when asked 'What can we do to make things better for you?' is .'We need your support and your prayers.' Let's get the word out and lead with class and dignity, by example, and wear something blue every Friday.

Thanks so much.  I wish each and every one of you a wonderful weekend.

Wanna SMILE?? C'mere and Lookie

I have my good and bad days.. Doc's say its hormonal or one of those other disorders folks have and want me to take pills... I am adverse to that idea and through the years I've had to come up with my own solutions for the down days...  on my cure list is--
MY GRATEFUL LIST
all I have to do is sit quiet and mentally make a list of all the good, joy and miraculous moments I've had throughout my life , and right away I start feeling better..   Making a grateful list is FREE and EASY to do and does'nt fill your body with chemicals..

DEEP BREATHING fresh air.. summer or winter- this works to lift my spirits.

and then- there's this... PUPPY PICS - you gotta smile when you look at puppy pics. Right?
I hope these add a smile to your day~ they sure did to mine...
:: photos~ courtesy of aol news::

Is this a sweetie or what..
"when I am worried and I cant sleep, I count my blessings instead of.....umm yea I know the song says sheep but I'd rather count PUPPIES:)
I used to breed Pomeranians and we never had a litter that there was'nt at least one pup that just HAD to use the rest of the litter as a headrest...  too cute and brings back great memories for me.
Cant ya just here the bigger one saying" I got ya pinned"

ok, if it gets much cuter I wont be able to stand it..
Naptime.. now who doesnt feel better after a nap? I know I do..
Have I said lately how much I love ya'lls visits and how much I appreciate having you in my internet life? if not- I'm sayin it now and by golly I mean it too..
Thanks for smiling along with me today...I feel better already:)

Mother Nature's Transformation

I've painted a lot of furniture.  Done hundreds of mock ups for myself- other and even businesses.  Changed rooms from what they once were to unrecognizable till I told folks what I did ~ BUT~ no matter how much talent GOD graced me with , I have never been able to make transformations of such beauty as the ones Mother Nature has made around my back patio..
I am so grateful for good weather and not to have been hit by the ugly storms we have had roar through NC..
Many folks will be years getting back to normal, both in their homes and yards.. Looking at that damage breaks my heart.. Then I walk outside and see what nature is capable of in a very short period of time and I know everything will be ok- in Time..

Here come the before's and the afters of Mother Nature's miraculous transformation.. I sure thank her for it..
things were just getting started and I'd had to cut the middle crepe myrtle down to the ground becuase it was transplanted from another area in the yard...

and then, the transformation began and she grew and grew and GREW:)
The ferns were a nice size when I got them . The geraniums came from a lady on the corner selling them out of her trunk to the local hardware store and I nabbed a few and put them in this planter..

Soon, they had to be moved so I bought a kiddie pool and spray painted it .  They are still growing and blooming and spreading out...

The ferns are getting huge~!

I told the story of these bradford pears before but in case ya missed it..These were cut down 3 years ago and the stumps were ground below the surface and sprayed with weed killed...
The next year I saw little sprouts in the mulch and knew what it was.. My gosh, if they had that much will to live- they were staying..
they moved sorta slow through spring as you can see..

and then:)
wowzers...
I look at all this and it reminds me to NEVER give up.. Strive to Survive... Reach for the sky.. They all did and look how great it turned out...
I'm joining Susan for her Meta Party... Please go take a peek at all the folks who have posted
Meta Monday with Susan..

Thanks for coming to see me.. I really appreciate it... Your visits mean more than I can say..

Our " July 4th " Dreams

I want to start this post with my sincere thanks to all of our Armed Forces and their Families..You make this celebration possible for us all.. Thank You for your Service ~!

I know we'll be stopping here for the best bar~b~que in the entire world.. Peach cobbler too:)
I sure wish ya'll could go with us. You wouldnt even need directions, just follow the scent of the hickory smoke in the air..
We'll need to go to the park and walk off some of those calories so we can be ready for all those to come as the day continues... You'll see what I mean further down the page lol..  Before the day is over ever blade of grass you see will be covered with a lawn chair, filled with folks clapping and singing along to the live music show that will fill the air with joyful sounds..
While the kids play at the park and hold our seat spaces we can stroll over to the Winery for a sampling of all the yummy wines they make here..
Later tonight we'll ride out by the lake.. The fireworks start about 10 pm and theres just nothing like fireworks on the water.. Works like a mirror image , a joy to see..

I'm not sure WHEN today I'll have this so I left it to Last-- but definately not Least:)  nope , none of that two spoon thing~!  This is Mine, ALL Mine:)

ohhhhhh what a glorious day in this Great UNITED STATES OF AMERICA..
thanks for spending a few minutes with me and sharing my day.. It really wouldnt be nearly as good without Ya'll...
