Its another beautiful day in my neighborhood , which I dearly love BUT I seem to be dreaming of the all things SEA lately... Country Living:: all photos courtesy of them:: sent me an email and upon opening it, what to my thrilled eyes did appear?? Seaside Style rooms.. Yes indeedy do they did.
I have to share them with you as well as my thought about each photo.. WHY you ask- cause I'm just chatty that way .. giggle

I think a bag like this would look great hanging from a hook on the side of my desk.. Pretty and extra storage too....

I have 2 bookcases to paint and I plan to sit one on each side of the fireplace in my living room.. Painting the backs a similar color to this sample photo seems like a good idea.. Of course then I'd have to paint something else in the room that color too and maybe change out my sofa pillows and use a more summer tone rug under my huge ottoman.. Dont ya just love this thinking out loud.. :)

I just happen to have a blank wall on one side of my patio.. Seeing this sample made me wonder why I've never thought of hanging stuff on it. Makes sense right? Looks good, I think I'll do it..

I have white cabinets and dark counter tops. If I added some of these elements I too could have a sorta seaside style kitchen for the summer... Gonna give this idea some more thought..

This is a mighty pretty set up but my eye mostly goes to that beautiful sailboat and those Lamps.. I seriously love those lamps .. I wonder if I could make them,, hmmmm.. I do have shades that very shape and size .

I could make some seaside pillows like these IF I had a stencil ... so many idea, so little time. sigh

Ok I know this isnt a room but sheesh, $90.00 for this dress... totally straight sewing- max 2 yards of fabric.. I'm thinkin I could easy make this in about an hour and for $8.00..Yes I see the cutie little rope belt tie thingie but I could use a thick white shoe string lol.. It even has those closures on the ends..

sometimes I THINK real good and other times, not so much....

Lets see.. For the one below I'd have to hit 3 or 4 goodwill stores till I could find enough jugs to spray paint== kinda like Debbie sprayed her Mason Jars.. then stripe some and polka dot some. Run by hancock fabric and grab a few different blue and white fabrics. and viola:) easy peasy and pretty cheap too.

I wow. How my double Pisces son would have loved this room when he lived at home.. I think I'll send him this photo as inspiration and then just pray his fiance doesnt call me screaming LOL

Some old books with Sea in the title.. Cheapo square mirror from somewhere. Cut out a large circle of foam core- glue to the mirror and hot glue shells.. Finding a metal sailboat might present a problem , but yea if it was too easy , it wouldnt be as much fun.. If I could fins a small sailboat, I could spray it with pewter spray paint.. Then it would looks like metal without me spending lots of money.....
The sailboat search begins this afternoon.... keep your fingers crossed for me. Please..

Purple and Blue Sneak Peek

Hi Folks..

I hope everyone is well and enjoying beautiful weather like we are having in NC.. I just want to stay outside all day and half the night and I would but, Duty Calls and I answer:)
I made the before photo 29 days ago and even though I have watched this happen day by day, there nothing like looking at the 2 photos together..

My birdbath finally arrived today and I got it put together.. I LOVE it.. I've wanted one with a little bird on it and found this one on Amazon.com... 39.00 and free shipping- happy dance goin on here lol..

I cant show the finished patio yet cause I cant make up my mind about a rug-- I havent recieved my wicker chair and ottoman cushions and I still have 2 Large pots I want to put trees and flowers in.. Yea, I know , I'm slow, go ahead and say it .. I really am and I know it..

Here's the before of this area.. Only a few purple blooms on the flowers and the hydrangea wasnt in the ground yet.. New mulch wasnt down either.. I had a lot to do, can ya tell..

and now, less than a month later..... I am so happy with it , I cant even tell ya.. I grab my coffee and out I go every morning to see if there's a new leaf or bloom on anything.. These are the things that bring me JOY..
no round the world trips, fancy smanchy parties-- been there- done that:) Now and for several years its all about Home and Yard and Family and Friends and I can honestly say I have never been happier with Life.
I feel so extremely blessed , I cant express it.
Just looky at all those pretty blooms.. wooohoooooo This was just one 3.99 plant and its grown 5 times its original size.... The thunder has been talking to all the plants and trees and saying " Grow little sweeties, Grow~!"

This is one section of the side adjacent to the back patio. I hope to have more sections done in a couple weeks.

Oh Yea, I learned something so I am passing it on.. When I bought the hydrangea- it had some small blooms but they were a pale green- sorta no color really. Then I was reading a murder mystery and it said if you added 10 penny nails around the roots- the hydrangea blooms would be blue and holy macarony - they are...

Painted Wingbacks with Tutorial

I wanted to repost this for those who may have been busy last year and missed it..

The chairs are exactly the way they were when I showed them over 6 months ago- so I am a happy camper.
They've been sat in quite a bit and all I do is take a barely damp rag and wipe them off . Had to do that when a pal spilled a little wine on it .. lol..

Yummy and Easy Peasy

I know many of you will be having parties for Memorial Day so I wanted to share this very easy cake with you.

Pretty sure this could be put together in about 15 minutes. Thats my kind of dessert. Plus, it looks soooooooooooo pretty..

angel food cake - sliced through width wise
fresh berries= your choice
favorite berry jam
cream cheese icing
you can look at this picture and see how it goes together:)
I'll be using splenda to sweeten my fruit but sugar is fine for those who can have it.

UPDATE~!!!
since a few posted with caloric and glutten free concerns I wanted to add this for them..
CREAM CHEESE- low fat cream cheese- let come to room temp and softer- add spenda and whip till smooth.... still yummy but wayyyyyyyyyyy fewer calories.

Trader Joe's and Whole Foods carry Glutten Free angel food or plain white cake. so that can be used for those who are watching their glutten content..:)

Beautiful Pottery

Hi Folks.

I'm well again, yippeeeeeeeeeeeeee..    I tried taking antibiotics but in 2 days I knew those were'nt for me. I've been traveling the Natural Healing route for 25 years and thats what always works best. It isnt as Quick, but I'm also not just masking the symptoms of an illness, I'm actually healing them. I know everyone has different opinions on this subject , so just saying what works for me.

After a 3 day fast and some intense vitamins and herbal therapy I was on the road to recovery. Took about 2 weeks but I have to say I feel good and I lost 7 lbs. which is always a good thing, a very good thing lol. OMG I sounds like Maaaaaaaaatha..

Last weekend a friend called and said she wanted to just take a ride in our pretty spring weather and asked me to go along.    Not sure where we were headed but about 45 minutes into the ride she saw a sign that said.
" Seagrove Pottery".. We both smiled at the same time so she got off on that exit.
Lemme tell ya, theres more to see than we had time for , so we'll be going back for a whole day trip.

So many different shops, styles and the stores themselves were amazing in their decor.   I could have moved a cot into several and stayed there .. Course, they might have frowned on that, so.. giggle

If you ever get middle NC, be sure to take a few hours and browse around in Seagrove. I think you'll be delighted with what you find and probably leave there a little lighter in the purse. I controlled myself and didnt buy anything This Time, but next time I go I will be making a few purchases..
Bad blogger that I am I didnt take my camera so this photo is just a sample of one of the many displays in the visitors center.     Be sure to stop in there. Those folks have the answer to any questions you might have and are super friendly and helpful...

Now that I am better I'll be working on finishing the yard in the next couple of weeks and hopefully will have some completed areas so I can show ya'll pictures..

Back Patio

Well folks, its been a tough couple of weeks for me. Monday 2 weeks ago- the day I had scheduled for the landscapers to start- I woke up with 102 fever. Truth be told, I barely remember that day. The only way I know I came through it is that the digging was done and grass was removed and a trench came to fruition.
I sat on a rocker wrapped in a blanket and enough of my brain cells were working to make sure they did step by step what needed to happen out there.
As some of you may remember I hired kids from the AG class at the local high school and while they were wonderful and hardworking , it required telling them multiple times EVERY SINGLE MOVE TO MAKE.
Day 2 plants went it, Day 3 soaker hoses and mulch.. By this time I had developed a serious lung infection and went to bed with heavy meds. I dont remember much of the following 3 days but here I am telling ya'll about it- so apparently I LIVED lol..
I'll tell the rest of the story when I reveal the front area .. porch still needs decorating- mailbox and post changed out.. Lots to do and I have very little energy...

I just wanted to post and tell ya'll i was off schedule as to getting things done BUT I did choose the back patio items. I wanted a screened in porch built but even in my sick and delusional state I could'nt bring myself to spend that kind of money lol.. So, I choose this instead. My daughter and a friend was able to have it put together in about 15 minutes.. That's my kind of project:):)

Hopefully the next time I post it will be something bigger , like the front yard ..

For now- some chicken broth, more meds and back to bed for me.

Its OK to have Cracks and Flaws.. Here's Why:)

I've always had cracks and flaws.. Today I found out why they are some of my most beautiful and best parts..

An elderly Chinese woman had two large pots, each hung on the ends of a pole which she carried across her neck.

One of the pots had a crack in it while the other pot was perfect and always delivered a full portion of water.

At the end of the long walks from the stream to the house, the cracked pot arrived only half full.

For a full two years this went on daily, with the woman bringing home only one and a half pots of water..

Of course, the perfect pot was proud of its accomplishments.

But the poor cracked pot was ashamed of its own imperfection, and miserable that it could only do ha lf of what it had been made to do.

After two years of what it perceived to be bitter failure, it spoke to the woman one day by the stream.

'I am ashamed of myself, because this crack in my side causes water to leak out all the way back to your house.'
The old woman smiled, 'Did you notice that there are flowers on your side of the path, but not on the other pot's side?'

'That's because I have always known about your flaw, so I planted flower seeds on your side of the path, and every day while we walk back, you water them.'

For two years I have been able to pick these beautiful flowers to decorate the table.

Without you being just the way you are, there would not be this beauty to grace the house.'

Each of us has our own unique flaw. But it's the cracks and flaws we each have that make our lives together so very interesting and rewarding.
You've just got to take each person for what they are and look for the good in them.

SO, to all of my cracked pot friends, have a great day and remember to smell the flowers on your side of the path!

Its time to take a few weeks break.. Ya'll dont give up on me , cause I WILL BE BACK~!

The entire yard is being landscaped. Some other stuff going on inside, so I'll have lots of posts with pics when this is done..
I just cant deal with all these workers and work myself and find time to do blog posts that would be of any real interest..

Little Bit of Bloomin Goin' On

Happy Sunday Folks~!

Lets dont even talk about the front yard , which is mostly BARE NEKKIE. We had the front trees and shrubs taken out last august as a couple of the trees were damaged by a storm and the shrubs sorta got squished and the others looked bad cause,, I didnt have them trimmed correctly.    Now, let me say that while this sounds awful, its OK when I consider it in relation to what others in this world are going through..    I am looking at the bright side and thinking how lovely and more efficient I can make it out there since I have way more experience and knowledge than I did the first time I came up with a landscape plan for this yard, 11 years ago..

I see this as my chance to start all over... YES, there is a silver lining to every cloud and I am bent ,bound and determined to SEE things my way:)    Of course I do keep a set of rose colored glasses hanging right beside my dead bolt key set , so I make sure and slip them on before going out Front..   Dont need any RC glasses for the back dead bolt cause it looks GOOD out there- yeaaaaaaaaaa me.. Not that I wont go ahead and stick some pretties in the ground in back while I have two strong willing fellas to do the work for a minimal fee.
I finally did the smart thing and called the high school and talked to the AG teacher who kindly sent a couple young men who need the money and know enough about a yard to help me get it fixed... Good for all of us, me and them. I knew I'd have to spend some money and I am happy to know its going to a couple kids who really need it and appreciate it.    I even helped them get a nice place to stay- CHEAP- for their graduation vacation.. Am I a Sweetie or what ,, giggle

I stuck a little clipping in some potting soil and now I have THIS - purdy aint it..

I think I told Ya'll about the Bradford Pear with a strong will to live, last year.. I had them cut and the stumps ground down 3 ft below level and yet- a sprig appeared , summer of 2009 and I didnt clip it or spray it... Here she is, God Bless her sweet heart.. She's staying as long as I live here and beyond even that I hope. Something with a will to live as strong as her's deserves to stay , dontcha think so..Crepe Myrtle I trimmed// or butchered as my daughter would say is already blooming out with fresh green leaves too..
Maybe that happened cause I went out there several times and sincerely apologized to it for the crappy trim job I did on her and she forgave me...

I just transplanted this white azalea last year and my neighbor " mr know it fricken alllllllllllllllll about plants" said it would take several years for it to bloom again... ahhhhhhhhhhhhh no Baby, you are wrong again..
She's alive and thriving , I'm sure, partly because I told her what he said and I actually heard her reply : "fffftttt on him, what the *%#( does he know anyway"..
Have I mentioned lately how much I love my plants and my yard and this Home I am so blessed to have. I dont say it enough and yet, they seem to know and that knowing gives them a special magic.. Bloom on my Loves, Bloom On..

as always, I appreciate you taking the time to visit me and read all my jabbering... I kinda feel like I'm standing at the fence talking to my neighbors and friends when I post. I hope you feel that too when you visit.

I finally did it. Bed is Ordered

I know I have posted several times and asked lots of ya privately and then still couldnt make a decision but finally and at long last:: like 3 years later:) :: I order my bed..

Do ya'll ever get to the point that you quit caring what it costs, you just wanted it over with? Well, I finally did.

This picture looks sorta plain but of course it can be dressed UP or Down with different bedding and thats exactly what I needed..

so now I can get all my other pieces painted and in place and be ready when the bed arrives...

As many have said- the Indecision was the most exhausting part and I am so glad thats over.

2 weeks they said and it will be here.. Thank the Heavens and JCP :)

Ya'll were mighty sweet to be so patient with me during this ordeal and I appreciate it... Believe me when its here and dressed You'll all be the first to know cause I will be posting photos with a huge grin on my face..
Now- who am I gonna give these 2 headboards I bought to? giggle..
Maybe I better keep one for the guest room, just in case.

Can you just imagine the oooooo's and ahhhhhhhhhhh's you'd get when family and friends saw it.

I'm not the best baker but I'm going to make it and take it to our neighborhood Spring party in late april.

Project for March

I know its already the 12th but this is still my march project:)
I'm a little slower than normal this month as I took on a few outside jobs and they are taking more time - day and night- than I had anticipated..

I bought this secretary off craigslist way over a year ago- showed it to ya'll then- and just never got around to doing anything with it.. The oak went well with my guest room bed , so thats where its been sitting waiting for the "oh so lovely" redo I promised it when it first arrived.. Thats the good thing about inanimate objects- they have Paitience and are willing to wait without complaining..

Should I paint the bed too??? I heard that gasp- yes I did.. lol

well if I do- that'll have to wait and be my April project..

Here is a photo of her in her present state. As you see I made some notes of what I am considering right beside her picture.. NOW, if any of ya have any scathingly brilliant ideas about how I should refinish her- please let me know in your comment.

I plan to go looking for samples of secretaries that have been painted later this evening. Surely they have some on Houzz or Pinterest for me to look at.

I can make my own caulk type paint so no problem there.. I like the look of distressed as long as its done with a Light Touch:) I see so much that goes from distressed to destroyed in a Nano second and thats definatly NOT the look I'm going for..

I just wanted to let ya'll know what I was up to as well as get any advice you'd be willing to share .

My thoughts and prayers are with them, just as I'm sure ya'lls are. Life can change in the blink of an eye as we have seen the last couple of years as portions of different states have been devastated. LIVE, like this was your last day , is what keeps going through my mind..

Bed N Breakfast- Which One?

   I am taking a trip in mid april. Not sure yet where I'm going but I do know I'd love to stay at a bed and breakfast versus a hotel..

All of these have horseback riding stables available and thats something we really want to do.   Looking forward to quiet time with some new scenery and of course ~ shopping at thrift stores and goodwills and out of the way local places.

   Just by looking at the rooms, which would you choose? I'm always interested in what thoughts and feelings a photo evokes..

So tell me, which room would you want to stay in..

I guess I should say that the two with fireplaces and soaking tubs are high on my list of favorites:)

Poms get a LIONS Cut?

Two of my Pom girls go in the morning and I'm going to let my groomer do them in the latest cut, a Lions Cut.
I havent told them this is going to happen, so shhhhhhhhhhhhh..... dont say nuffin lol

They actually are quite paticular about how they look. I have a mirror in the floor of the bathroom and they always look at themselves in it. Yes, 4 ego girlies I have, each primping and quite sure Thier tail swiches sways and swaggers better than the other 3.. They dont actually speak but I can hear them anyway , arguing about who's the blondest...

They are also getting their nails painted in different colors.. Purple for Buffy Marie-- Kelly Green for Sassy Bella-- Maroon for Greta Gizelle -- and Tangerine for Nadia Rochelle. I mean didnt you know Nadia would have to have this years color..

I'll do my best to get each ones photo seperately and together to show off their new look for 2012..

In the meantime here's a sample photo the groomer will be going by.. The only question left to answer is Bows or No Bows in the ears.. what do ya'll think it should be?

Such Pretty KItchens

I dont know about ya'll but I never tire of looking at pretty kitchens. Seems like I find at least detail in each of them I'd love to have. Not sure if I put all those together how good it would look though...

I cant choose a favorite but I can say which thing it is I love about each of them..

The little shelves on the cabinet edge at the window takes me back to my grandmothers kitchen. She too grew herbs in a clay container.

Love the wood paneled wall and wire basket, as well as the glass doors on the cabs. Black wouldnt work for me but I can sure see it in a room with lots of light ..

If I had windows in my kitchen I'd put a shelf over them just like this one.

Love these cabs that go all the way to the ceiling- especially since they have glass fronts. A friend of mine ordered the very same bar stools as in this sample.

I seriously think I need to add a column at the end of my bar- heck, maybe both ends and attach latern lights to them.. Love that idea.

I would love to have that red and white checked rug on the floor..

Love the wall art over this stove.

Black and white checkered floor- oh baby, I want one~!

Love the plate rack style cabinet.

Ever Have a Vision ??

This is the stencil I'm looking for, Blogger wouldnt let me add the pic to the bottom where I wanted it lol..

Do any of ya'll ever get a vision in your head and you just cant let it go? Well I do.

Several years ago I saw a picture and mentally it Stuck. Nothing I have seen or tried since, satisfied me.

I got my "cottagey" bedroom about half done and stopped. There was just no need to keep going with something I knew wasnt going to work for me and besides, it was'nt even close to my Vision:)

I dont know what style its called but to me the style is Perfect. It may take me awhile to get there, but I've decided I'd leave my room perfectly plain than substitute stuff for what I really want.

For now- I have a request.. If you know where I can find this stencil, could you please leave that information in your comment or my email addy is right under my header up top- write me..

I appreciate Ya'll so much and thank you to those who wrote me and asked if all was OK...
Some family health issues going on and I'm helping as much as I can with that as I live closest to the relative that needs extra help. I'll write more about that later.

$5.00 Lamp redo

I found this brass, swing arm lamp at goodwill for 5.00.. I hesitated for a minute cause I figured it was one of those cheapo, very light, might tip over, floor lamps.. I walked over anyway and took hold of it and wow, it was HEAVY. So I knew it was a more expensive piece originally . Great- I'll take it.

I stopped my lowes and bought a can of orb spray paint- gotta love that stuff.
Lampshade from walmart was waiting for me in the storage room. Got that a few weeks before for 8 or 10,
I forget now but way cheaper than ballards:) I did a post letting ya'll know where they were and several of ya bought some.

Cleaned the brass- spray painted it 2 light coats and let that dry . I dont have a doubt this lamp as it is now would have cost between 100.00 and 150.00 .. Mine- lamp-shade-paint ,, $22.80
Sonny is a happy girl:) Its just what I wanted and needed and at a bargain price too. The daughter has tried several times to swipe it for her room but I go in there and swipe it back.. I wonder if I can find another for that price.. Maybe.

Plant Sale Alert ~ !

I just had to share this will Ya'll.. I know a lot of us love live plants in our homes and this is a great deal..
Just sharing- walmart wont pay me thats for sure hehehehe
anyway- in a month these will be back to their normal $54.95 price.. Right now in the walmart garden section they are 12.50.... Lots of different tropicals- very healthy and over 5 ft tall.. Grab um while ya can.
I got this palm and I love it~!
ps~ please just pretend you DONT see that crappy brass door knob.. I'll change it out to orb soon. :)

What a morning lol.. I got several emails about folks not being able to comment. I fixed that yesterday evening, I thought. then I got more emails so I tried to fix it again AND remove the links added to my post.
Instead-I lost the whole Post and 1 more... Cant find them, cant retrieve them.. Feeling very lucky I didnt delete my entire blog like I did 2 years ago .. I cant tell you what a bad feeling that was.

At last count, before the post went poof:) it was 27 for the curved headboard and 2 for the square and 2 for "either will look good" giggle.. I'd say the CURVED won, wouldnt you? Yes.

I'll start working on it today .. Thanks for voting and for making some great suggestions.

Next we'll have to have a Lamp vote lol.. Yep thats right. I'll be adding several Lamp choices and would love to have your opinion as to which works best..
