Well, its official.. Me and my daughter both have allergies, including Food allergies. This has been an ongoing issue for me fore several years but now after multiple tests and examinations and blood work and I dont even know what all else :) She too has allergies almost as severe as mine.
What this means is- we are both still healthy compared to many other folks and what they have to deal with but it also means LOTS of CHANGES have to happen within our Home.
This isnt something that can be done overnite as it will consist of removing as much of the fabric as possible and by that I mean drapes and carpets. I realize we cant live in a pristine environment and so I'll focus on the changes I can make and attempt to adjust the others.
For instance- scotchgaurd on furniture makes it much easier to vacumm as the particles/dust/ dander and such- remain on the surface. The Pom Babies will have to be shaved at least once a month- versus their usual quarterly shaving. Until such time as wood flooring can be put in, Stanley Steamer will be here quarterly to do a thorough steaming of all surfaces. Mattress boxspring and pillow covers must be purchased and used at all times. I'm thinking this process may cost a bit of money before its over with but living as healthy as possible is the main issue and I am very grateful that though annoying, allergies are all we have to deal with , illness wise.. Oh yea and the food allergies but thats just a case of clean out the fridge cabs and storage room and purchase carefully, henseforth. Heck, we may be much healthier for Life because of this.
I always try to look for the Silver Lining and usually if I look for it- I find it.
With all these changes that'll be going on around here I may only be able to post a couple times a week till I get this situation under control so if you dont see a post every other day- dont give up on me. K
I'll still be able to take breaks and come visit ya'll.
Wish me Luck and thanks for visiting.. it means a lot to me.

Sonny, So sorry about your allergies! I love your silver lining attitude! Just think how healthy you are becoming!
ReplyDeleteI know exactly what you're going through, its been 25 years for me so now its second nature and it will be for you too.It does take time but you feel so much better, I have allergies to all man made fibers and petroleum products, so I have to be so careful with cleaners , soaps and lotions, that sort of thing, scented candles can make me break out in a scalding rash for weeks, life will change for you but it will be a change well worth it, our bodies are telling us that there is danger in these products, we must listen, my only regret is I cannot be around animals, its not their hair its the oils on their skin, I wish you luck on this, the dust mite allergy preventatives will help the whole family even non allergic s, good luck!
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry you are dealing with this, Sonny. My husband and I felt clogged and like we were always blowing our noses in our new place. Besides the fact that the carpet would have needed replacing eventually anyway, that is one of the reasons we decided to go with wood flooring as the replacement. We also got portable air filters in and have them placed strategically throughout our condo.
ReplyDeleteOh- I am so sorry that you have to deal with this. I have a friend with terrible allergies and I know it has turned their lives upside down. Blessings to you- xo Diana
ReplyDeleteTotally understand. I don't food allergies (though I probably need too) LOL! But do have other allergies and asthma so I know how things can be. Understand all about posting. I normally only post 3 days a week but here lately I have been so snowed under with other things that can't be helped and are priority that I haven't been able to post much! Do what you gotta do and I will pray for you and your daughter. You will see a light at the end of tunnel....Hugs and blessings, Cindy
ReplyDeleteYou are getting ready to take on a monumental task. I do not envy you. Glad you too can see a silver lining.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry about the allergy problems Sonny for you and your daughter. I'm allergic to dust and pollen and more. You'll figure it all out and don't stress too much about changing everything immediately. Do it slowly as you can and it will be just as effective. Laminate or hardwood floors will help a lot and keeping your dogs clipped will also help. I know you'll be fine and just be thankful you now know the cause.
ReplyDeleteAllergies can be soooo bad, flu like for many. I'm so sorry you and daughter are having to deal with this.
ReplyDeleteI so feel for you and your daughter, Sonny. I am allergic to SO many things and have to keep my house super clean. Wood floors help, as do mattress and pillow covers since we spend at least 6-8 hours straight in our bedrooms. I wish you all the best in getting your home and kitchen ready for a new life style. I am sure you will feel better! :)
ReplyDeleteXO,
Jane
That stinks! Hope after you make all the changes you both feel BETTER!!!!
ReplyDeleteAllergies are like plagues: everyone in our family has one type or another! Fell better!
ReplyDeleteOH no Sonny! The whole time I was reading this I was shaking my head. Unlike you I would not know where to start around here.
ReplyDeleteGood luck honey I know you can do it.
Love ya
Maggie
I am sorry, having lived with severe allergies my entire life, I know it literally sucks.
ReplyDeleteMy sister and I lived the sterile no fabric no carpet, no life in our childhood.
We are fortunate that our new house has laminate flooring, and only a bit of carpet on the stairs. I have a cat! I will always have a cat. Of course right now with the grass pollinating, I have a rash everywhere, it's the grass, the heat, the dust etc.
But like you said, it's not as bad as some people have to deal with.
Most times for me, it's just annoying, itchy, and bothersome. But I will take that over many other diseases.
I hope that you both find some relief, in making the changes in your environment.
