Window Boxes are Done

I finally got my front window boxes planted.  They are made of real wood and I have to paint them each year.  I noticed this time both had splits in the sides so those had to be patched and extra screws put in first.

I'm thinking I may take them off and start with all new next year.  I hate to loose them but maybe if I'm very careful I can save them for the back area to sit on the concrete.  Someone very special built them and so I dont want to toss them unless I absolutely have to..

Why am I only showing 1.. cause my daughter had her fan in the window and that isnt pretty but the other looks about the same.:-)
This is the flag I choose for this year.. With the Pineapple and apples it had sort of a Williamsburg look and I like that . Plus the leaf shape at the bottom was somewhat unique as most flags are just a square.
I found these 3 stones at a local craft shop and Loved them so home with me they came.  front porch tabletop..  This way I see them every time I drive in.  I found the dough bowl at goodwill for 1.00 and just stuck some greenery in it.
Now I'm off to Lowes to look for some porch paint.  Pretty sure I want a pale grey but once I get there I might change my mind..  Right now I have this sorta orangy tile and it hasnt ever made me really happy.
 Change is Good, right?

thanks for visiting me... I spend a lot of time at home alone since I live and work here so when ya'll comment it really does fell like a Visit to me and I appreciate it more than I can tell ya.

Parties I am joining are below.. I will add and post to each party as they are made available..

Dedicated House~ Make it Pretty Monday

 Marty~ Tabletop Tuesday

  1. I love window boxes, Sonny! I love how you planted yours, too. My daughter has a neighbor across the street with window boxes, so she gets a lovely view, plus an idea of how it would look if she added them. They are on her "to do" list!

  2. I had just mentioned a few days ago to Steve that I would like planter boxes. Love yours, especially with the black shutters and red brick.

If I decide to add boxes to my house they would have to hang from the porch rail, and I'm not sure if that would look as well groomed as when they are next to the house. Next year.........

You might like the gray paint. I love gray these days. It's such a great neutral for any decorating. Yes, change is good.

  3. Love your window boxes, they look great. The rocks are a great addition and yes, such a neat thing to see when you drive in. I think your flag is perfect too, looks great. You home is looking so beautiful. Great job. Hugs, Marty

  4. Morning Sonny,

  12. You make me miss my window box that I left on our unfinished house in Kansas...

Your flag is so neat. My daughter gave me one of a beautiful rooster for my birthday but I'm afraid to put it out for fear of my goats eating it.

  13. Lovely window boxes! They look just wonderful. You were lucky to find a dough bowl for $1....what a steal. The plantings and special rocks add a nice touch!

Thanks for welcoming me back. I look forward to seeing you for Potpourri Friday!

  17. I recently painted my porch a taupe/gray color and LOVE it!

I am loving your window box and that flag -- I gravitate to pineapple things -- symbol of hospitality :)

  18. I love window boxes and yours is so pretty! Dresses up the window so nicely! I have some that are made of iron and I don't have to worry about the bottoms rotting out..but I love the look of traditional boxes. I found some vinyl boxes on line..but they were rather pricey...may have to invest in one as they are beautiful! Thanks for sharing ..hope you are enjoying the summer!

  23. Hi Sonny,
Thanks for your recent visit to my blog. I am delighted to meet a fellow North Carolinian.
Your window boxes look great. I've always wanted to add them to my house, but the best window to do this is so high that I know it would be a pain to water, so I haven't done it. I love your flag too. The detail on the bottom really makes it special.

  24. Beautiful Sonny! My flowers in my window boxes are DEAD. I officially hate marigolds:)

  25. Your window boxes are lovely. The little trailing ivy really is a pretty touch! Love your flag, too! Happy summer!

  26. Just wanted to stop by and say Hello. I may not comment on each post, but I am reading them. Stay cool!

  27. Your box looks so pretty full of flowers. You have a beautiful home, Sonny.
