I know much of the country are having record temps and we sure are. It was 101 yesterday, humid and just plain miserable in general. I was out at 6 am watering the front and back becuase we have new planting in both..
After all this work and expence I sure dont want to loose anything to the scalding sun.
so I think I'll make a gallon of ice cold sweet tea and sit back here under the umbrella , with a fan too.. Yes I have a big ole box fan outside with me.. How weird is that :)
Stay safe and cool folks and thanks for visiting me.
xoxo

I hear you! 101 in KC yesterday. I get out every morning about 6 am and water too. Haven't thought about a fan! Are those crepe myrtles? Beautiful! Mine never get that big, cause they die back to the ground each winter.
ReplyDeleteExtremely hot here, too. We will exceed records today. I am staying in and painting.
ReplyDeleteStay cool.
Sonny, We finally got our rain. I am praying those that need it get some. I know why you have a fan...it also helps keep bugs away. We have an over head fan on the little porch bump out. Hate when flys laid on me, yuck. I sure understand the watering of your plants....lawns will go dormat and spring back but we have to tend to the flowers. Smiles, Susie
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous yard, absolutely beautiful. I don't blame you for early morning watering. It's a must in my area. South Texas heat is killer, we hit 106! Insane. Well lovely yard :)
ReplyDeleteLooks so pretty, Sonny! Yep, the heat is on! It's in the 90s here but our humidity it through the roof! Stay cool.
ReplyDeleteBe a sweetie,
Shelia :)
Oh we have been at or above 110 for the last few weeks, I am so tired of it all. I will definitely be inside. I'm working on that new dresser I found, it is looking wonderful. Can't wait to get it done. Your plants look gorgeous, love all the flowers. Hugs, Marty
ReplyDeleteMorning Sonny,
ReplyDeleteWow, your backyard is beautiful. You have done a wonderful job back there working on your oasis, and that is exactly what it looks like,
and now it makes your heart sing everytime you look out there or get to be out there. That is how I feel
about my backyard!! I adore crepe myrtles and one day hope to put one in somewhere, just don't know where cause we have so much woodsy stuff around us already. The
most likely place would be outfront,
but it would look dumb just to have
one tree, so I would have to make a whole island to balance out the yard,
and just not that ambitious as of yet.........lol
We have had a few cooler days since Debby left Florida, and they were wonderful, but the temps are creeping up more everyday, I am sure we will be up in high 90's today. Yea, 101 and 103,
is pretty hot. You have to get out there either early in the morning or late in the evening cause it is the only time you can stand it.
Enjoy that tea, it sounds great to this other Southern girl.
Hope you are doing well hon,
blessings, Nellie
Sonny, your back yard looks great! The heat is definitely on....106 with heat index 115 in next of NC yesterday.
ReplyDeleteStay cool and have a great weekend.
I know how ya feel Sonny! We hit 97 yesterday but the humidity made it feel like it was over 100!! Stay cool and enjoy the weekend!
ReplyDeleteYou should see my fence garden. I have leaned everything tall I could find against the other side to provide a little shade for my plants!
ReplyDeleteBrenda
I take care of the animals early morning and late evening. It is so hot we don't even care to go out to eat because we would have to get in and out of the car in the heat. If a garden needed my attention I'm afraid it would have to suffer.
ReplyDeleteStay cool and make sure you water yourself, too, Sonny! It has been so hot the last few days. I've been trying to wait until evening to water my plants because by then the full sun has moved away. I figure they've got a better chance of soaking up that water without the sun beating on them.
ReplyDeleteI hope you find relief from that dreadful heat, your garden looks lovely, those old box fans are all we ever had growing up and Garry's mum still uses hers, just the sound of them makes me think of my mum, enjoy that tea!
ReplyDeleteIts not hot here, it never gets too hot,
As I drove through our little town in NE GA today about 4 PM, it was 107. So so hot! I feel for those who are without power due to the fires and storms. Praying we will get some relief soon.
ReplyDeleteYour yard is beautiful. I hope you don't lose anything.
Have a great weekend.
It seems to be hotter everywhere else than here in Florida...but it will get hot here soon enough! Happy weekend!
ReplyDeleteNothing wrong with using a fan outside. We do that too on our front porch sometimes. Love those pics of your outside area. Let's hope that cooler temps are arriving soon!
ReplyDeleteSonny,
ReplyDeleteYour yard is stunning! While you're watering the out of doors...remember to drink plenty of fluids!!!
Fondly,
Pat
Hi Sonny,
ReplyDeleteYour lawn is so pretty, and I love your window boxes from your previous post! :) This heat really is dreadful, isn't it? I feel so badly for the people in Colorado who are dealing with those terrible forest fires.
Thanks for visiting me; I always like to hear from my fellow NC bloggers. Take care and stay hydrated!
Hugs,
Denise at Forest Manor
It isn't weird at all! I got me two fans in the barn where a lot of afternoons me and hubby likes to sit. I can't take the heat! Hug and blessings, Cindy
ReplyDeleteWe're having a respite from the high heat today -- only going to make it to the higher 90°'s. I am a watering slave too :)
ReplyDeleteKeep cool - a fan outdoors sounds like a genius idea.
Happy 4th!
Blessings!
Gail
Sonny,
ReplyDeleteYour crepe myrtles are just beautiful! I just love them and really love the weeping white one...I just planted one in my greenbelt..can't wait till mine looks this good! Aren't box fans great! Hey if it works then enjoy! Actually great idea...I may use mine on my patio...wonder if it would help blow the bugs away!? Have a great Fourth!
Miss Bloomers
Holy moly, Sonny! Way, way too hot for me! I'm sure I'd be sitting next to a big 'ol box fan too. YIKES! It's supposed to about 75 here today.......actually looking forward to a "warm" day. I've been freezing and we've been wondering if summer was ever going to come. Better get some soon.......our tomatoes are going nowhere!
ReplyDeleteTry to stay cool dear one... :-)
Happy Fourth!

ReplyDeleteIt is horrible with the heat. Your gardens do look beautiful Sonny and I know you will tend to them and they will do well. Mine are looking terrible.
