Kitchen Cabinet Color Choices

  Hi Ya'll..

I'm still here:)   wow its been awhile and I want to thank you all for not unfollowing me.. That was mighty sweet of ya..:)    Lots of stuff has been going on since the end of January and not much of it was Decor..
My favorite carpenter Paul is finally back in NC.. He had to leave for 2 months and tend to fixing and selling his mother in law's home in California.  What he thought might take 3 weeks took a lot longer but thats how it is with remodeling. You never know what you'll run into.    Now that he's back , I have a full page list of things I want him to do.

This little break I took actually gave me plenty of time to sit and look at my kitchen cabinets..    Glad I lived with them a few months and didnt jump right into painting them.
However the browny tone Hickory color just isnt working for me..  Its time to PAINT~ !

I showed ya'll the kithen back in late jan..  but I'll add a pic of it here to refresh your memory.  granite counters in  brownish greys combo-- neutral enough to go with anything..  Tile backsplash-- its beigy grey.. all stainless appliances and hickory hardwood floors/darker than cabinets..    Basically a blank pallet.
I got a sample pic of one door , took it to my art program and colored them as
samples..
I am hoping you'll help me with this..
I'll be using kilz and Valspar satin.. I have my own tints so if they end up glazed I'll take over from Paul at that point..  all he has to do is the tough part  giggle.  sand prime and paint.  easy peasy, right?

so here are the samples.  If you comment and I hope you will- Please state your color choice and why ya choose it..  Thankies:)
Weathered Grey---original Hickory tone---Navaho White

Palest Sage---Teal Blue--Antique White/pale grey glaze

Should I say which one The Daughter choose lol..  dont be influenced by her please. Antique white-- she is rather conservative.

What I do, can be undone or redone, so dont let that effect your choice either..
the interior decor has a blend of all these colors- so NONE would be a wrong choice-except for the hickory lol.

Thanks again for not giving up on me and for your very valued opinion..  Means a lot to me..
Big Southern Hugs to ALL of YA  ~!!!

parties I am attending..   go see all the pretties others have posted too. pretty please:)

  2. LOL- Sonny- What a decision and you want US to help! First off, I want to tell you that I really love your header. I don't know if it is brand new or I just missed it before but it is lovely!

Okay- Cabinets. Well, to tell you the truth I really like the one your daughter picked, too. I think it has enough warmth in it to blend with your flooring and yet has enough "grey" tone to it to go nicely with your countertop/backsplash.

I also like the first one-The Weathered Grey and I like the sage, too. tough pick! Which one are YOU leaning towards-cuz it is, after all, your kitchen and you get to spend your time there! xo Diana

  3. Hi Sonny,

It's good to see you again! I already know that I'm conservative, and the funny thing is I had chosen the Antique White when I scrolled down and read what your daughter picked. :)

The reason I chose Antique White is because I felt like the gray wouldn't provide any contrast to the gray tile backsplash, the stainless appliances, and the gray countertops. I thought the Navaho White was a little too stark. I think the blue is pretty, but it could easily be too much color, and I think folks can get tired of color faster than neutrals. So for what it's worth, those are my thoughts. :-D

I think whatever you choose will make YOU happy, and that's what really matters here. You have a nice kitchen, my friend!

  4. Hi Sonny, glad to see you back again:)
I like two the white and the gray one, the gray might not go to well with the backsplash but you can tell a lot better if it would go.

  5. Hi Sonny and it's so nice to see a post from you! Now I just love white kitchen cabinets but that Palest Sage is awfully pretty too! Good luck and I know your kitchen will be beautiful.

  6. So glad to see your post, Sonny! I was going to email you this week to see how you are doing. Now I know! : ) Hmm, lots of choices. I'm guessing you want to keep it light in here? I like the grey and with grey in your tile and counter, that would work. I also like the Antique White. In our condo we have no window in the kitchen, but have to rely on the light from the open floor plan and windows in the other rooms. Our cabinets are a creamy white and the kitchen really needs that light color. Hope that helps!

  7. I love the palest sage the best for your kitchen. Anyway, you will choose just the right one for your kitchen...and I can't wait to see what was finally your pick!
Have fun with the color, they're great choices!.

  8. There you are you sweet cutie patootie! No we would never give up on your returning. WooHoo! Glad you are here.

I pick Weathered Grey but know you will most likely go with Navaho White. Whatever, that will end up being the greatest kitchen in the world.

  9. Well, you know me, not to wild so I would choose the antique white and then I could add as much color as I wanted in accessories. I love to change things up and I think classic is the way to go and just spruce up the accessories. So glad to hear from you. Hugs, Marty

  10. In my old house, I had bright white which was gorgeous, but hard to keep clean in a busy kitchen. I choose the Antique White too because you get the lightness to the room, but also get some depth in color, and I believe it would be easier to keep clean. So there's my 2 Cents worth! Glad to see you here!!

  11. I like the palest sage, too. I was leaning toward the Navajo White, and that is probably the safest. But I really do like the sage. But it's your kitchen!

Your blog looks pretty -- you changed it?

  12. It's so nice to see you Sonny! I love the weathered gray, but would probably only use it in the base cabinets, to ground them, and then use the Navajo white on the top cabinets. For matching cabinets, I think the light sage and antique white are excellent choices! I can't wait to see what you decide to do!

  13. I say white! You can add anything to it and it looks wonderful. I have a white kitchen and would not go back!

  14. I like the Navajo white and the weathered gray. The weathered gray might be too dark for the entire room. It might look nice on the bottom with the Navajo white on top. I also like all Navajo white.

  15. I love the Navajo White! I painted our DARK brown 80's cabinets white and was so happy with how much lighter and brighter my (windowless) kitchen became! Whatever color you choose, have fun painting!!!

  16. I would be tempted to choose two colors, probably the Navajo White or the Antique White and the Blue. There are quite a few cabinets and it might be nice to break it up a bit. You might even consider replacing the inner panel of the doors with glass on some of the doors. This is your opportunity to give the kitchen the look you want. I suggest you go through lots of magazines and Pinterest boards to determine which look you love best. Wish I was with you to go through the process. Once you find your dream kitchen ~ go for it!

  17. I painted my kitchen cabinets and oh boy, I am glad I did it! The color I chose: white, surprisingly, Navajo white by BM. you can see my kitchen right here: http://www.remodelandolacasa.com/2012/01/kitchen-remodeling.html
I guess that's my reason why I'm also picking white for your kitchen.
I'm happy to follow your journey!

  18. Hey Sonny,

How exciting to be getting a new look for your kitchen cabinets! I like the palest sage, as the creamy beige in this hue would blend in very nicely with the beigy grey on both your counter top and back splash...just sayin'!:)) Good luck and can't wait to see the final results, whatever you choose!

  19. definitely I would pick the weathered grey or the white. But the greay shows less "dirt" if you are one who spends time cooking in the kitchen.

It is good to know that others feel the same way i do!!

I love the Navaho white. I think it will go with any accents colors you chose for your Kitchen and if you decide to change colors, you will not have to change your cabinets again....

  37. I would chose the antique white, but go with a different glaze. Our spec home has similar glazed cabinets to those pictured and I find it hard to pick a wall color to go with them. The blue colored one is also pretty, but might get tired of them quickly. So many choices...
