Sunday Sneakie Peekie

I'm making progress, slowly but surely.  It took me a while to choose a Theme but once I did the color was easy...  I mean seriously, do Cardinals come in other colors? nooooooo  lol..

I woke up friday morning thinking about what I learn this past year about what were the most important things, what I loved and cherished,  what brought me Joy and Peace.  Beyond my spiritual beliefs , I most cherish my Child- My Home and My State.   I just happen to live where the Cardinal is the state bird and when I look up from my desk theres a crepe myrtle tree and many many times theres a Cardinal there eating or just perched on the limb..  It may be fanciful thinking but I believe they're here to bring me a special message or just to remind me of  what I love and to stop a moment and take Joy in it as I go about my day.

I've always done a big bow as a tree topper but this year, This seems perfect to me. So I'm going with it.. Too much second guessing myself always gets me in a big ole mess..

For someone who is very neutral oriented :)  I'm  amazed at how good the red I see is making me feel and I'm happy about that.    For so many years I was determined to do non traditional colors. I wish I had photos of my  silver trees--  purple trees- even lime green trees..   I'm starting to think someone really can change, cause I sure am craving tradition this year..

Thanks so much for visiting me even though I dont have a lot to show you this time.  I'll keep working on it and hopefully I can show you the finished tree by wednesday:)..  Then I can move on to the rest of the room.

I wish you a  Joyful Sunday ~!

  2. Sonny - I love cardinals, too, and always have at least one in my tree. I don't know whether it is an age thing or what but the last couple of years I have just wanted the traditional colors of Christmas. I am very neutral in my whole house but I love the deep, deep reds of Christmas and the greens. It just gives me a sense of peace and order. xo Diana

  4. Sonny, the red cardinals are beautiful. I have frequently thought about a neutral Christmas theme but I love the red and green and alway chicken out at the last minute.

  5. It is looking lovely so far, Sonny! Love the tree topper! I've been working on my tree today too. I kind of stay sentimental and use all the ornaments we've had over the past 25 years. Although, I may do different colors and themes with my little trees.

  6. Sonny - you can't go wrong with Cardinals. Being from the Tarheel State I have always loved them, and my tree is always decorated with cardinals, collected "found" nests and birdhouses. I love your tree topper. I love that its not the traditional bow. Can't wait to see the rest. Blessings, Barb

  7. You have reminded me that I have a pair of cardinal S&P shakers that I need to bring out! So very winter and Christmasy!!

I am never a red person until Christmas and Valentines Day. I am fickle!! I have so many pretty ornaments and I love to see all of them on the tree. And I could never have more than one tree in this little house. So it's very colorful.

I like what I am seeing of your decor!! Hurry!

    XO,
    Jane

  9. Hi Sonny,
I love the cardinals, I have several of them around at Christmas, they bring me joy just seeing them. Then I found some lovely fabric with them sitting in greenery, so now I have a pillow and a runner made out of that fabric.
So I think you made a good choice.
    Hugs, Cindy

  10. "To thine own self be true" is more than just an expression. It is a quest for authenticity. Your love for family, your home and your state are beautifully reflected in your tree. I love the cardinal top and the way the traditional Christmas colors enhance your holiday home.

  12. Sonny, seeing your tree topper reminded me that I have some birds....yeah, but where? I'm planning to go simple this year with my tree/maybe trees! I want to get it/them done in a hurry as I am already behind on the shopping part. BTW, RED has recently become a favorite color! Thanks for sharing your tree and Merry Christmas! Helen

  13. Hi Sonny
Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment. I love cardinals and we always have lots of them in our backyard. I have a little dish full of water just one foot away from the window. They come and drink from there all the time so I get to see them up close.
I love red for Christmas because it is a happy color!
