A Musical Christmas? maybe- whatcha think?

If only I could remember the Blogger who wrote the post about~ Anything New in Decor for the Holidays~
I would love to give her credit for getting my mental wheels spinning....  If I figure out where I read it I'll come back and add her blog name..
In the meantime I'll carry on with my own story:)

Three months ago I was discussing this years holiday theme with my daughter.   We do this every year at the end of summer..  Let me say in advance that YES, I know smart, thrifty folks use the same items they had the year before and just add to it.. Guess that means I'm not too smart or as thrifty as I'd like to think I am....

I'm a Christmas Baby for those of you who dont know and this is a very special time for me. I have, since my teenage years , done the holiday decorating and I still love doing it.  each year is a new theme- last years was Santas ...

So we discussed it and she said " whatever happened to all those musical instruments we used years ago"
I answered that I HOPED they were still in the storage building in a container but I'd have to go out there and check.... As of that Moment, the Musical theme was chosen.  I knew I'd be covering boxes with musical paper as I always add tiny gift boxes to me tree, regardless of what theme I have chosen...
It was about 3 weeks later when all the catalogs started to arrive and what to my wondering eyes did I see??
Will I use be making and using Match Boxes- NO  ..

Yep, musical everything lol... paper- ornaments- wreaths you name it ,, it has music paper and msuical ornaments on it...  So of course it'll look like I'm following the latest design ideas of the stores...
I wonder if I leave the tarnish on all those poor old ornaments if that'll prove I really did do this theme long ago and will be using it in different ways again.. Nah,, probably not..
I have to wonder if ideas float up into the sky and drop on folks lol.. Ideas are where everything begins and they are strong powerful things, so maybe they do....
Maybe I'll stand outside today and another beautiful idea will bop me on the head....

Happy Thursday~!!!

  3. I love this theme holiday decorating, wish I had the budget to indulge myself that way. Then again, I know I would have a hard time not keeping everything over the years! I am already on Christmas decor overload as it is! LOL! But it is nice to think of doing something different for a change, maybe I can try that idea with my newest tree? Hmm???

  6. I was looking at the new PB catalog last night and couldn't get over all of the sheet music and glittery ornaments. So much of it looks DOABLE and I think you are going to have so much fun decorating in a musical theme this year! Much luck! :-)

  7. Great idea though, Sonny, and I did like the musicial ornaments I saw in the PB catalog. I'd go with it anyway! I do think it's funny because I look around at some of the things in my house that I've had around, some for almost 20 years - a corkboard in an ornate/decorative frame {Ballard-ized even back then}; a large monogram letter I bought for my daughter one Christmas 10 years ago; painted, distressed and decoupaged cigar boxes that hold notes my children wrote me when they were little; and a few other things that are passed around bloglad these days. I almost feel ahead of my time!

  9. Hi Sonny,
Thanks for coming by yesterday, it was good to hear from you. For some reason your blog still does not come up on my dashboard, just can not figure that out!! So always glad when you drop by and leave a comment so I can come for a visit.

Recently I was up at our church in the day time and some ladies from the choir were working on decorations for the upcoming christmas contata,
and they had made christmas trees somehow out of musical sheets, they were amazing!! I was so wishing I had my camera, cause thought I wouldn't mind making some of those myself.
and you would have loved them!!
I am trying to pic them in my mind, but I can't, all I remember was how neat and pretty they were.
That is neat you do a new theme every year.
I tend to stick to the same theme, poinsettias
but move everything around to a different spot
    usually.
    Have a great day hon,
    Blessings, Nellie

  13. Hi Sonny! Oh, now you know I'm loving the idea of your musical theme for your tree! As much as I love my piano and music, I've never had a music tree. I should think about that!
To help you remember, it may have been Rhoda who asked the question about what were we doing differently this year for Christmas. She alwso was having a giveaway of a great decorating book. Does that help?

  15. A musical theme for your Christmas decorating sounds beautiful.
We use the same Santa theme each and every year, adding a new orny every year.
