Can I upholster?? NOOOOO

I got 2 of these chairs off Craigslist about a year ago.. My plan was to upholster but after reading several blogs and watching lots of u tube tutorials I decided that just was'nt my thing.. But , I loved their shape and $50.00 for 2 it was worth the risk I was about to take.
Found another picture this morning-- wooohooo.. I thought I had lost them all..
here's how both chairs looked sitting beside the fireplace..

I'm joining Susan for Meta Monday..
Go see her other Posters- you wont be disappointed.

also joining Kim's party
Kim's Party

This was the photo on CL- and unfortunately its the only one I have.   My computer went kaflooie a few months later so~~ 1 before and 1 after is all I have.. I got a bit of chair number 2 in the photo at least..
I wanted to keep these but I just could;nt handle the mauve and blue flowers on a yellow background.. So if I was going to have them in my living room a major change was in order..I sure couldnt use them the way they were....
Enter ~~Kilz primer.. yes , you read that right- Kilz lol.. You see I decided to do them one morning about 5 am when all the stores were closed but I could'nt sleep..    I taped off the arms and legs which were in a very nice cherry mahogeny stain and great condition.   The priming began and it took me about an hour to do both chairs.. The primer raised some of the fibers so a little light sanding with fine sandpaper was needed..
I decided primer coat number 2 was gonna be necessary so I did that later in the afternoon. I planned to let them dry till the next morning but you know how Life gets in the way of your best plans, right?
So 2 weeks later- again, early in the morning I decided the paint them.  Of course, I had'nt gone and gotten any paint which meant I had two choices. SW kitchen cab paint-- nah, too thick,, and Behr soft white satin..  I went with the behr..  It only took one coat to look fabulous. All the nubs had laid down because of the primer and sanding in between and the paint went on smooth as silk- umm I mean-- Satin:)
I loved the way they looked and took several photo of them on either side of the fireplace.. As I said at the beginning of this post- I lost all but 1 of those pictures..
I think it turned out beautifully and sitting in it didnt hurt it a bit.. I kept them 6 months and sold them to a friend of mine for - well lets just say-- a Profit:)   She's used them since and they still look just like they did when I painted them...
I added a little snippet of the original on the bottom right..
Really - it was easy .. 2 coats of primer- sand in between and 1 or 2 coats of paint- whichever you prefer.
Let dry before using about 72 hours in a warm room without humidity.. Easy Peasy and oh so pretty..
So now, you folks that cant upholster= take heart-- you too can tranform your chairs..
I plan to try a loveseat soon.. Might even try stenciling on it once the paint is dry..

I ADORE Porches ~!!

It seems like as soon as the weather starts to change I begin to think about my porch and patio, as you may have noticed by my last few posts...giggle

I always loved my Grandma's side porch but as close as I've ever gotten to it is my patio which on the back side of my Home..  I keep thinking one day I'll figure out how to make a porch out of it.. I've had several carpenters here to look and give me estimates but as yet we havent come up with a style I like that fits my budget..

For now I'll just live vicariously through these beautiful samples.. I have to admit I CANNOT choose a favorite.  Can You??  if you can would you mind saying why you choose a particular porch in your comment.
I'd love to hear it...

I love the black railing and the old brick..

I wonder how my brown wicker would look painted black like this... hmmm, thats an idea:)
Marigolds are easy to grow-Right?  and who wouldnt love a fireplace on their back patio...

I dont have to tell ya'll how much I love a country porch... hmm I am seeing my front porch like this in my dreams...
These shutters make my heart sing... I could sit out here day or night..

The stripe on these valances really draws the eyes, doesnt it..
I hope you enjoyed these as much as I do..
THINK SPRING FOLKS...~!
I wish you HAPPINESS~HEALTH~and PROSPERITY...

We've had some beautiful weather in NC this week.. I took some pictures of my Bradford pears becuase the pretty white blooms dont last very long and I want to be able to look here and remember them..
As you can see, she's in full bloom and slowly the grass is turning green again. I look out every morning and see something new thats coming alive with this spring weather..    I hope to put in a real walkway this year if my angels make a way for us to stay in NC,, please wish it for me folks, please.... A wish only takes a minute and I sure would appreciate it..

I know you must be wondering why I'm so thrilled with these Bradford pears that I'd even show them but but, leeme splain it to ya.... A couple of years ago a landscaper talked me into cutting them completely Down and  the stumps were ground to below dirt and covered up....  Later that summer I saw a few tiny sprigs poking through the mulch and I cried.. My goodness, how very much they must have wanted to Live, to come back after being treated in such a harsh manner..  Now here, 2 years later they are thriving and beautiful again,, well OK, beautiful to me cause I know what TRUE GRIT it took for them to come back..
They make me smile and give me hope.. I admire them very much for the strength of their spirit..

Maybe one day we can have a NC Blogger party here and they will give us shade while we enjoy meeting each other.. Wow, what a dream come true that would be....

Happy Sunday Folks and as always I am blessed by your visit.. It means more to me than I can express..
Your Pal,

Enjoying Last Spring

Like so many of you I am trying to be patient and wait for SPRING.. Warmer some days than others here in NC, so hope springs eternal lol..
I thought I'd post of few photos of my back patio area.  It brings back happy memories and increases my hopes of having another beautiful spring here..
So now , just close your eyes and pretend your here with me.. I'll be serving sweet tea shortly:)

Put your feet up and relax.. theres a citronella candle on the opposite corner so none of those evil skeeters will be biting you..
I love crepe myrtle trees.  I have 7 of them in the front and back yard.. Lavendar, pink and 1 new  red one planted last year..  They are such a showy plant and I appreciate their beauty..
We love sitting outside in the evening and watching all the birds come in to nest for the night.. After dark, they are quiet and the cricket symphony begins..  Nature is so amazing and such a joy..

Thanks for stopping in to visit.. The door is always open and you are welcome anytime..
